Freak Accident
June 22, 2000

I thought I would post this to show how severe this accident really was.

On June 22, 2000, I went down to one of our work buildings to turn off the wax pot
and pour a couple of waxes.  What I found, to my horror, was a smoke filled building!
I immediately turned off the wax pot (large turkey roaster) and then did a dumb thing.
I lifted the lid after pulling the cord that was plugged into the wall out.  Well you can probably
guess what happened next.  Yep, you're right!  It caught on fire!  I was alone when this
happened and had to think quick.  So I put the lid back on the pot (it was still on fire) and
I quickly ran tripping and spilling the wax all over on the way out of the building.  When I
dropped it outside, the flames shot 6 feet into the air.  It took me 15 minutes to put the fire
out.  When Jim got home, he found me in the kitchen with both hands and a foot in the
kitchen sink!  It has been one of the most painful injuries I've ever gotten.  I now have
more sympathy for burn victims.  I can't even imagine burning my whole body~~~
how painful that would be!  I received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my right hand
and 2nd degree burns on my left foot and left hand.  I used Melaleuca products
(Tea Tree oil) to help with the healing process.  After the doctor gave me an
ointment that gave me a severe reaction, I decided to treat myself.

Well, you've made it this far, and it's really not that bad,
so scroll down to see what happened . . .

As you can see, Sparky is always there for me!

I took this picture on 10-25-00 to show how
my hand is healing.  You can also see the size of Summer Breeze.

The photos below were taken on 10-10-03

You can see my hand has
healed without
painful skin grafts,
thank God!
